Play where the pros play

Inland Empire’s Goose Creek Golf Club has earned its stellar reputation

While Goose Creek Golf Club in Jurupa Valley is challenging enough to be a perennial favorite to host some of the biggest professional events in the region, it’s also welcoming enough to ensure that average golfers can enjoy themselves too.

Nestled in the Hidden Valley Wildlife Area and meandering along the Santa Ana River, the Inland Empire gem is easily accessible from Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Riverside counties and has hosted qualifying events for the PGA Tour, USGA and others. The par-71 Schmidt-Curley Design routing that plays 6,560 yards from the tips should be a destination no matter where you live in Southern California.

“If you are looking for a pure golf experience based on a creative and effective course design that’s well maintained and a course that’s fun and challenging to play for all levels, this is it,” said Ross Fisher, the PGA Director of Golf at Goose Creek.

So what makes Goose Creek stand out? Playing conditions are consistently outstanding, and the course is designed to make it accessible for higher handicappers while also giving better players a chance to test their games.

“Being a second-shot course with wide fairways, I encourage players of every level to let it fly all day,” Fisher said. “Low-handicappers will appreciate the spectrum of conservative-to-aggressive choices off every tee, while beginners will appreciate the relative ease of starting with a ball in play.”

Goose Creek is known for its superior short par 4s (holes 6, 8, 10 and 14), each measuring 361 or shorter from the back tees and making birdie opportunities abundant. The signature hole is the 18th, a 465-yard par-4 that has been named the “Best Finishing Hole in Southern California” by FORE Magazine. Water lines the entire right side of the fairway, and a massive bunker protects the left side of the landing area. The putting surface is approachable for those playing conservatively, but the water in front and greenside bunker behind this shallow green may make you think twice if you’re trying to hit it close and finish with a birdie.

The slogan at Goose Creek is “Play Where the Pros Play,” but even if you’re not an aspiring tour player, you can test your game and have a great time here.

“Goose Creek is a highly-regarded, well-maintained parkland public golf course with outstanding playing conditions and unique characteristics that lends itself to a smooth pace of play,” Fisher said. “Playing Goose Creek is a really enjoyable experience, and because of its coherent, well-integrated design, my game never feels repetitive."
