Critically acclaimed Rams Hill
Golf Club reopens for play this month

The critically acclaimed Rams Hill Golf Club in Borrego Springs may be located in the middle of proverbial nowhere, but it truly is a hidden gem that matches the hype.

Golfers will have the chance to play the top-ranked Tom Fazio-designed track again soon, too, as the course re-opens the weekend of October 23-25 with a grand-opening celebration after taking its customary summer break, when temperatures consistently top triple digits. The weekend will feature golf, food, games, prizes, and a commemorative poster for those teeing it up.

Defending ZOZO champion looks to break all-time wins record at Sherwood

Southern California golf fans looking to get a glimpse of Tiger Woods playing in our backyard won’t have to wait until January like usual, as the SoCal native and 15-time major championship winner has committed to play in the ZOZO Championship @ Sherwood on October 22-25.

The inaugural ZOZO Championship was held in Japan last year and featured Woods’ record-tying 82nd career PGA Tour victory. Due to challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament will be held temporarily this year at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

And that’s not a bad thing for Woods.

Another foursome at Indian Wells Golf Resort is up for grabs this week

If you missed out on last week’s sweepstakes for a foursome at Indian Wells Golf Resort’s Celebrity Course, you still have another chance. This week’s sweepstakes is for another foursome at Indian Wells Golf Resort, but this time for the Players Course.

Designed by former U.S. Amateur champion John Fought, the Players Course features a classic American layout with sculpted bunkers in a style reminiscent of courses such as Riviera and Winged Foot, the site of last week’s U.S. Open.

Here’s a look at how SoCal hometown pros fared in our national championship

Bryson DeChambeau stole the show with this runaway victory at the U.S. Open last week. For nine SoCal hometown pros who teed it up at Winged Foot, it was more a mixed bag of success and snafu.

Storylines were not lacking. From rising stars destined for major championship glory such as Matthew Wolff and Xander Schauffele to aging warriors Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods with 20 majors between them, the 120th playing of our national championship reminds us of the immense talent spawned from our neck of the woods.

What follows is a report card for nine SoCal tour pros who gave it their all in this year’s U.S. Open at Winged Foot, some of whom soared, while others, at least this time, stumbled.
